Welcome to the You Are Not Here For You blog! You’re probably thinking, “Wow! what a weird name for a blog.” Well, I don’t care. I kinda like it.
I decided to make a Pinterest to share my short stories and get the word out that I’ve published a book, and then came the “type in your username” page. I can be pretty indecisive when it comes to making decisions, so I decided to just go with the first words that came to mind, and it was just that: you are not here for you. I like it. Reminds me that everything is impermanent.
I hate the internet nowadays. Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, Pinterest and YouTube to be more specific. The social media apps. A while back, I deleted TikTok and Reddit off my phone because instead of being the consumer, I was being consumed. I spent hours on end on those apps. Social media addiction is real, and everyone’s addicted and deluded nowadays, but I don’t know if that’s something that we, the global human society, are ready to talk about. Maybe we’ll be ready in 20 years’ time.
I’m not some rich person who can hire someone to manage my internet presence. If I could, I’d be completely off the grid. That reminds me to say that I’m currently also present on Instagram and Pinterest, Reddit, TikTok and YouTube. My username is: youarenothereforyou. I use them to post some short stories and make posts about books I’ve published.
I fell in love with reading in my late teens, and writing even later. I’ve been calling myself a writer these days, and writers… write! People read the things that writers write. You’ve probably noticed that we’re not living in the 1530’s, and that modern society now requires people who call themselves writers to build an online presence and share their work online because that’s where you get traction nowadays. I don’t like it one bit.
No one is going to know that I sometimes write stuff and publish them if I don’t do this. I don’t know if I want to stay here forever. Once I gain enough readers, I think I’ll probably just leave this place and actually just exist and be happy in the real world.
So, who am I and why should you read what I write?
I don’t know. Really… who am I? People say their name, age and occupation to answer that question, so maybe I should do that. I don’t think that it really does the question justice but, here we go. My name is Umulkhair. I am a writer.
Ummm… why should you read what I write? Hmmm. I don’t know. I recently fell back in love with my religion, so I love talking about Allah and Islam and the Qur’an and about myself and also about everything that is wrong with society. I don’t know if you can tell by how I write but, yes, I’m a girl. For some of you, the name probably gave it away. I am a woo-mahn. Ew. I don’t like that word. *british accent* I’m a lady. I also enjoy figuring out how to fix whatever’s wrong with me. I oftentimes see myself as this grand 10,000 puzzle piece set with only about 200 pieces correctly assembled in the center. Anyways, if you like any of the things I just mentioned, consider sticking around. Or don’t. Not forcing you. Always do what’s best for your dunya, and more importantly, your akhirah,
I would also like to add that my first non-fiction book, Notes: 01/31/2023 – 12/04/2025, is now available on Amazon. I don’t consider it an actual book. I actually don’t know what to call it other than notes, because that’s exactly what it is. It takes the form of a book but it’s not an actual book. Just some personal notes, thoughts and whatnot.
A couple of things to expect from this blog:
- Random stuff.
- Consistency. Expect new articles every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
That’s it. Okay, hope you have a beautiful morning, afternoon, or evening, wherever you may be.
