Hey guys! Happy Eid ul-Adha. This year, I walked to the place I pray Eid prayer every year. I made it on time, alhamdulilah. A few minutes after I got there, everyone got up for the prayer, so I think it’s fair to say that I was a couple of minutes early. I arrived sweating… so. It was sunny. I wouldn’t recommend you to have time blindness and think you’re Wonder Woman. I took my time getting ready, and I overestimated the amount of time it would have taken me to get there comfortably and not sweating. I actually had to speed walk and run so that wasn’t fun. My nervous system felt like it was being hunted.
I prayed next to a lady I met last year. I was on my walk and she happened to be there and we had a cute little conversation. I don’t know why, but at some point, the conversation shifted. She talked about how her son was looking for a wife, how he didn’t find the “right one” yet. She asked for my number to stay in touch and I gave it to her. As soon as I went home, I regretted not saying “no, I don’t want to give you my number.” It was clear she wanted to set me up with her son. I was flattered, but I told her I wasn’t so focused on looking for a relationship. I walked back home that day and blocked her number. I thought about how it’s been a while since I’ve been approached by anyone for marriage and romantic partnerships and whatnot.
There’s so many people that gather to pray Salat al-Eid. Out of everyone, I didn’t expect that I’d be praying right next to the lady whose number I blocked. I took off my sunglasses and said hi. It was kinda awkward. We did the whole salaam thing and said Eid Mubarak to each other. After gruelling moments of silence passed, we were ready for prayer. So… thank God for that. Thank God I didn’t get there earlier because if I did, I think we might’ve had an actual conversation.
Eid was good. It’s still good, alhamdulilah. I did the usual… which was good, alhamdulilah. It’s still going on. If you didn’t know, Eid is three days long, and today’s day two. If you’re celebrating, then I pray you have a joyful Eid dear reader! May Allah allow us to reach the next one in good health and security. Ameen.
